Plan
Understanding potential and discovering purpose is essential in undergirding one’s value. However, these key components are useless if there is no plan in place to fulfill that purpose. It has been said that having a vision without a plan is just wishful thinking. The Planned Potential curriculum provides the information and tools necessary to create a strong foundation from which young people can launch their own dreams. Planned Potential challenges students to think ahead concerning matters such as: discovering their interests, planning a career, and deciding what to look for in a mate. Students learn the value of putting into place a plan that will allow them to achieve their dreams in a responsible manner, while giving all that they have to make those dreams a reality. Planned Potential challenges students to overcome obstacles, avoid risky behaviors, and stay on track when these pressures become overwhelming. Students are also encouraged to do their part for the greater good, which, in turn will build towards creating a better country, and in turn, better world.

Purpose
When purpose goes undiscovered, or even worse, unheeded, an element of chaos and thoughtless behavior can occur. People who do not have a sense of self worth, value, or purpose tend to be idle in thought, word, and deed. Idleness can lead to blurred boundaries, irresponsible actions, and useless activity often brought about by boredom. Through Planned Potential, young people are encouraged to be proactive in understanding their purpose and finding ways to discover hidden talents that they may posses, which could contribute to the greater good of society. Planned Potential strives to help them to understand how, by doing their part to help out for the greater good, they are actually building character, integrity, and a sense of belonging and community for themselves and their peers. Maturity often comes with experience and a strong sense of responsibility. Planned Potential recognizes the need to teach responsibility and strives to meet it.

Potential
One cannot fulfill their purpose if their potential is unknown or untapped. The Planned Potential curriculum challenges students to rise to the occasion concerning things like peer pressure, learning how to exit a pressure situation, and standing up for what they believe. There’s an old quote that states, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” When potential goes undiscovered, challenges go unmet. How can one know their true potential if they have never responded or risen to a challenge? Planned Potential provides examples of peer pressure scenarios that students may encounter in the future and then challenges them to develop an exit strategy to escape those pressuring circumstances. Students are often unaware of their capabilities because they’ve never really had the knowledge or understanding of how to deal with issues such as drugs, alcohol, bullying, self-respect, and more. Planned Potential uses stories based on real life situations to help them identify what to look for concerning risky behaviors and how to escape that trap.
